Step by step instructions applying Vinyl Decals on Rocks
SUPPLIES
Grab vinyl lettering decals from Mary’s Rocktastic Art Etsy shop! She has lots of different sets to choose from and adding more all the time. So make sure to favorite her shop! You also need a nice glossy varnish, like DuraClear.
TUTORIAL
First, you have to select the rock you want to add your decal to. You can pour paint or make pretty blended backdrops for these stones. Add a gloss coat to your rocks. Mary suggests DuraClear gloss varnish.
Cut out your decal close to your letters and lay it flat on the table. Place transfer paper on the decal. Rub with a credit card to get a good bond.
Peel off the decal paper slowly. Making sure the decal sticks to the transfer paper.
Position the decal where you want to stick it. Be careful, once it sticks it cannot be removed!
Use a credit card to rub on top of the clear transfer sticker to transfer the decal to the rock.
Carefully remove the transfer paper. If your rock is not glossed the paint can peel off so be careful.
The decals are shiny and waterproof! However, if you are planning to hide outdoors you will want to put on more sealant. After you apply the decal make sure to use art resin or tri art liquid glass pouring medium. This will ensure that you will not get spots on your final rock. And wildlife will not pick it off.
